Mobile Lactate Testing · Bend, OR
Stop guessing.
Start training
with lactate.
Most athletes train in a fog -- working too hard on easy days, not hard enough on hard ones. A lactate test gives you the numbers to avoid those mistakes. Even if LT1 feels "too easy" or you lack the discipline to hold back during threshold intervals, a lactate test helps you avoid unproductive intensities. We can never eliminate uncertainty -- but we can aim for the productive kind. You'll never know how a race is going to go. Why do you demand the same of your very complex body?
What you get
Two numbers.
Better questions.
Your true easy-day ceiling. Almost every athlete trains above this without knowing it -- burning through aerobic adaptations before they can take hold. LT1 shows you that your "moderate" ride is probably too hard.
Your highest sustainable aerobic power. Most athletes set their FTP too high, which means their threshold training is actually junk miles in disguise. LT2 puts a real ceiling on your hard efforts.
A personalized graph of your lactate curve, with coach commentary on what to stop doing immediately -- and which productive uncertainties are worth living with as your fitness evolves.
How it works
90 minutes.
We do the driving.
The Mobile Testing Van comes to Riverbend Park. No lab, no commute, no excuses.
A short warmup gets your system primed. Then the ramp protocol begins -- steady increases in intensity, every few minutes.
test
A small finger-prick sample at each step. Quick, painless, accurate. We keep going until the watts win.
Your lactate curve and threshold data -- delivered as a personalized report with coach notes on what to do next.
Common questions
Fair questions.
Straight answers.
Is this just for elite athletes?
Not even close. Lactate testing is actually more useful for age groupers than for pros -- because age groupers are the ones most likely to be training in the wrong zones. Elites have coaches watching them constantly. You probably don't.
I already have a power meter. Do I need this?
A power meter tells you what you're doing. A lactate test tells you what your numbers actually mean. Without threshold data, you're guessing at your zones -- and most athletes guess wrong, usually in the direction of too hard.
Will this give me exact targets to hit in training?
Not exactly -- and that's the point. Think of it as productive uncertainty: you'll know which intensities to avoid, which ranges to train in, and how to read your body better. Physiology is foggy. Good testing just trims the fog.
Do I need to bring a smart trainer?
No. We provide everything you need -- other than your bike, your cycling shoes, cycling attire, a snack and fluid, and your suitcase of courage.
Do I need to be a Campfire athlete to book?
Nope. Testing is open to any endurance athlete in Bend. You get the data whether you coach with us or not. (Though fair warning: a lot of people who get tested end up wanting a coach to help them use the results.)
On your schedule.
We come to you.
90 minutes. We come to you. You leave knowing more about your physiology than most athletes learn in a career.
